Sergeant M. Griffiths

Mike Griffiths CRA

Hello, my name is Sgt. Mike Griffiths.

I have been with the Pinellas Park Police Department since January 2005, beginning my career as a reserve police officer. In May 2005, a full time position became available and I was offered this position. During my time with the agency, I have been assigned as a Community Police Officer in the Bicycle Unit, Field Training Officer, School Resource Officer and Training Officer. In January 2009 I joined the agency’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) and still remain as an entry team operator and grenadier.

In September 2014, I was promoted to Sergeant and was assigned to patrol. In May 2015, I was assigned to the Community Redevelopment Policing Unit (CRPU).

In my assignment as the unit supervisor, I am responsible for the day to day operations, to include the implementation of strategic problem solving, influencing negative perceptions that exist in the community through partnerships, and to assure the district officers are working with the community to deter crime and solve problems.

In addition to overseeing the district officers, I supervise the Mounted Patrol Unit.  The mounted unit consists of a sworn officer, a mounted patrol coordinator, and volunteer riders who all work together in helping to safeguard the community by patrolling on horseback.  I also coordinate the completion of monthly reports and schedules events and special details for the unit personnel to attend.

If you would like to speak with me about the CRPU or if you would like to request us to attend an event or just have questions, please contact me at 727-743-2435 or email Mike Griffiths.
