Disaster
The City of Pinellas Park, like any other municipality, is vulnerable to a number of natural and man-made hazards which could give rise to potentially disastrous events threatening personal injury/death, and substantial property damage to citizens of the City. Such events can happen with little or no warning. Recent hurricanes, flooding tornadoes, and winter storms have emphasized the need for everyone --families, businesses, agencies and institutions to be prepared.
The Planning Division annually prepares the City's Disaster Response and Recovery Plan. During the disaster planning process, it is necessary that all City departments and divisions have internal operating plans and procedures to provide safety and protection of personnel, facilities, equipment, and critical City records. The Planning Division continues to coordinate with the Pinellas County's Department of Emergency Management, Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council (TBRPC), and the State of Florida, Division of Emergency Management to provide guidance to the public which will prevent, minimize and/or relieve personal hardship and property damage associated with disasters or the imminent threat thereof. Disaster planning provides for an integrated and coordinated local, state, and federal response.
