Fire & Life Safety Management - Training
The duty and responsibility of providing safe and effective training to members of the Pinellas Park Fire Department falls to the Training Section of the Fire and Life Safety Management Division. The District Chief of Training oversees the professional career development of firefighters throughout their career with the Pinellas Park Fire Department.

Beginning with their date of hire, new firefighters, also known as "probies", spend the first 30 days of their 12 month probationary period undergoing basic skills and orientation training. The District Chief of Training coordinates the schedule to ensure that the new firefighter meets all objectives and goals within that first month. The new firefighter is then assigned to a shift under the direct supervision of a Company Officer. He or she then spends the next 11 months undergoing continuous and extensive training while carrying out the duties of an on-line firefighter.

Probationary and veteran firefighters undergo continuous training, testing and evaluations in all aspects of their job. Drills are conducted monthly, quarterly or annually depending on the type of training required.
