Class A Extinguishers - Ordinary combustibles or fibrous material This extinguisher will put out fires of wood, paper, cloth, rubber and some plastics.
Class B Extinguishers - Flammable liquids or gasses Fires involving flammable liquids such as gasoline, oil, grease, tar, oil-based paints, lacquer and flammable gas require a class B extinguisher
Class C Extinguishers - Electrical These extinguishers are suitable for use on energized electrical equipment such as panel boxes, appliances, switches and power tools.
Class D Extinguishers - Combustible Metals These extinguishers are for use on flammable metals, metal and metal dust.
Class ABC Extinguishers - Multipurpose Multipurpose extinguishers can be used on different types of fires. The ABC extinguishers put out most types of fires that occur at home such as wood, paper, cloth, flammable liquid and electrical fires
