Fire Chief - Doug Lewis

Chief_Doug_LewisDoug Lewis came to the City of Pinellas Park in November 2004, to serve as its Fire Chief. He brings over thirty years of experience to the community after nearly 28 years with the City of St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue and two years serving as Polk County's Fire Chief.

Chief Lewis began his fire service career in 1975 when he joined St. Petersburg Fire Department as a Firefighter/EMT. He was promoted several times over the years and retired in July 2002 as Chief of the Rescue Division. That same year, he was hired by Polk County to be the Fire Chief in charge of 29 stations, 400 personnel and a 22 million dollar budget.

Over the course of his career, Chief Lewis has earned numerous certifications including certification as a Public Manager from Florida State University. He earned a Bachelors Degree in 2000 in Public Leadership and Organizational Studies from Eckerd College and attended the Executive Fire Officer program at the National Fire Academy.

From 1990-1998 he served with the United States Coast Guard Reserve. He is a member of several county, state and national fire service organizations and local and national soccer associations. Chief Lewis spent his childhood in Pinellas Park and attended school at Pinellas Park Elementary and Junior High School.
