Fire Department - Public Education - Poison Control - What To Do In Case Of A Poisoning
* If the victim had collapsed or stopped breathing, call 911.
  1. Stay Calm
  2. Call The Poison Control Center at: 1-800-222-1222 and have the following information ready:
    • Victim's condition, age and weight
    • Product container or bottle and how much was taken
    • Time the poisoning occurred
    • Your name and telephone number
  3. Follow the instructions that the poison center gives you.

1-800-222-1222 is telephone number for every Poison Center in the United States. You are automatically connected to the poison center for your area. Your call is routed according to the area code and exchange of the phone number you are calling from. You can call this number 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and speak to a poison expert. The poison expert will assist you in a poison emergency and also answer any questions you may have about a particular poison or poison prevention.
