Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest for Child Pornography

 

On Saturday, July 8, 2006 at approximately 2:12 p.m. Officer. J. Pasiuk stopped Kenneth Raymond Halscott for unlawful speed (62 m.p.h. in a 45 m.p.h. zone) in the 9500 block of Belcher Road.  During the stop, Halscott grabbed a film canister and began ingesting what the officer believed was marijuana and then ran towards some bushes to throw the canister away.  The officer subdued and arrested Halscott for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and resisting arrest without violence.  A search incident to arrest yielded a digital media card that contained images of child pornography.

 

Halscott had a 5 year old female relative in the car with him when he was stopped.  That child appeared in some of the photographs and the photographs appeared to have been taken earlier in the day.

 

Detectives were called in to assist in the investigation, which is continuing.

 

At this point Halsoctt has been booked into the Pinellas County Jail on the following charges:


7 counts of Possession of child pornography

1 count of Obstruction without violence

1 count of Marijuana possession

1 count of Possession of drug paraphernalia

 

Halscott's bond was set at a total of $71,500.
