Witnesses state that at approximately 11:17 PM, three black males kidnapped a juvenile male from the parking lot of the Howard Johnson's Motel. One of the assailants held a handgun, placed his arm around the victim's neck and forced him to a White Dodge 1500 pickup truck. Witnesses hearing the commotion in the parking lot and coming outside to see what was happening were shot at by one of the assailants. At least two shots were fired, the bullets striking the building. The assailants and victim left the area in the pickup truck. The victim was later discovered in a Southwest Clearwater neighborhood, he had been shot five times. Clearwater Police are investigating the shooting. The victim was taken to a local hospital. The truck used in the abduction was later found and reported to the Pinellas County Sheriffs Office. It had been intentionally set on fire. The truck was recovered and processed for evidence.

Police have identified one of the assailants and have obtained a warrant for his arrest. He is identified as DARRIUS M. KILPATRICK, Male, black, DOB/08-29-1984. Kilpatrick is 6'01, 215 lbs. Recent arrest picture shows Kilpatrick with dreadlocks but information received is that Kilpatrick may have recently shaved off his hair. Kilpatrick is wanted for attempted murder and kidnapping.
