WELCOME TO THE PINELLAS PARK
CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION WEB SITE!
Many graduates of the Citizens Police Academy continue on to join the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA) to increase their knowledge of law enforcement and support the department and community. There are many opportunities available through CPAAA membership.
Membership: You are eligible to become a voting member of the CPA Alumni Association if you have graduated from the Pinellas Park Citizens Police Academy and have attended three consecutive Alumni meetings. Partnerships between the police department and citizens that form during CPA classes are enhanced with membership.
Membership Fees: $15.00 per year.
Opportunities: Many opportunities present themselves during the year in the form of activities or events where the members can assist and benefit the police department and the community. CPAAA is a non-profit organization, and is distinct and separate from the Pinellas Park Police Department. However, the two organizations often work very closely together. They team up each year in support of Relay for Life by raising funds at a giant yard sale where all proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. The CPAAA also holds an annual event during the holidays to raise funds for the Public Service Education Foundation of Pinellas Park as well as Police Explorer Post 912.
The association successfully led a huge community-wide effort to raise enough funds to equip the department's three canine with bullet-proof vests, set up a medical fund for retired canine, and provide workout equipment for the dogs. CPAAA recently secured an ice machine for the department and are currently gearing up in support of the National Citizens Police Academy Convention scheduled for May 2007, with Pinellas Park Police Department hosting the event.
CPA Alumni Association meetings are held at 6:30 pm the second Wednesday of each month at the Police Department. If you are interested in learning more about the Alumni Association, please contact Sergeant Brian Unmisig at 727-541-0952.
