Pinellas Park Police Department - Recruitment - Reserve Officers
POLICE APPLICANT SCREENING SERVICE
The Pinellas Park Police Department utilizes the services of Police Applicant Screening Services (PASS) to conduct preliminary background investigations on all potential police candidates. A completion of the PASS process is necessary to be considered for employment as a reserve police officer with the Pinellas Park Police Department.
QUALIFICATIONS
Be at least 19 years of age. Be a citizen of the United States. Be a high school graduate or its equivalent. Not have been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement. Never have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States. Be of good moral character. Possess a valid driver's license. Be in good physical condition as determined by a physician's examination and successfully pass analysis for controlled substances. Graduate of a Police Academy and Florida State Certified as a Law Enforcement Officer. Available for weekend or evening duties. Must provide 20 hours of service per month.
As a candidate for the position of Reserve Police Officer, you will be expected to successfully complete and / or pass the following:
Completion of the PASS process Background Investigation Oral Interview Patrol Ride Along Evaluation Oral Board Interview Polygraph Examination Psychological Examination Physical Examination
Programs
Candidates may apply for one or two Reserve Officer status positions. All training must be completed within two years of acceptance into the program:
Reserve 1 (R1)
Must complete 40 hours of FTEP training curriculum. This status allows the Reserve Officer to work as a two man unit with a Patrol Officer and during special events.
Reserve 2 (R2)
Must complete a minimum 440 hours of FTEP training curriculum. Experienced law enforcement officers must complete a minimum of 240 hours of FTEP training curriculum.
This status allows a Reserve Officer to handle calls as a solo patrol officer.

Hostage Negotiations Youth Services Section Dare School Resource Officer Training Section Planning and Research Section Traffic Enforcement Section Crime Prevention Section Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit Field Training Officer Unit Senior Police Officer Program Recruiting Unit

Reserve Officers receive valuable training and on the job experience that helps prepare for a career in law enforcement.
Reserve Officer status assists in maintaining or achieving FDLE Law Enforcement Certification.
All equipment provided: Uniform, footwear, leather gear, ballistic vest, and duty weapon.
Reserve Officers are eligible for all Department Awards
Reserve Officers are eligible to attend advanced law enforcement training courses.
Reserve Officers are eligible for assignment to specialized positions
