| The Reserve Unit provides valuable support throughout the year. Reserve officers are volunteers who receive the same certification training as regular paid police officers. Although each reserve is a certified law enforcement officer, as volunteers, they receive no pay for their services.
The Reserve Unit is comprised of highly trained professionals who have been through an extensive selection process comparable to that of the Department's full time police officers, and a vigorous, extensive academy training program. They are a part time unit held to a full time standard. Officers regularly patrol the city streets and provide additional manpower for numerous events such as the Annual Holiday Parade, Country in the Park, and the City's Bicycle Rodeo. They also assist with the Department's Police Explorer Post, serve as instructors for annual training and perform polygraphs. Each year our Reserves volunteer hundreds of hours saving the City tax payers thousands of dollars.
