One Sergeant manages the Special Operations Section. This sergeant is designated by the Chief of Police and reports to the Operations Commander. The Special Operations section is comprised of thirteen officers. The section is made up of the five specialized units; a Traffic Unit, Motor Unit, a Community Policing/Bicycle Unit, a Police Services Dog Unit and a School Resource Officer Unit.
The Special Operations Supervisors duties include: addressing traffic problems and enforcing traffic laws, preparing shift schedules, handling informal complaints, and supervising and assisting the Motor Officers, Traffic Officers, Community Policing Officers, School Resource Officers and Police Service Dog Handlers. |
