The Community Planning Division is responsible for comprehensive planning, grants, emergency planning, capital improvement planning, economic development, annexation, and the National Flood Insurance Program. The Community Planning Division is responsible for long range planning efforts of the City. This includes: land use, transportation, recreation, disaster response and recovery, capital improvements, grants, economic development, annexation, and social service coordination. As the coordinator of planning, economic development and community outreach activities, the Community Planning Division strives to keep the big picture in focus without losing sight of the details that are important to the City. Our division continues to be the source for research data due to a large selection of local statistical and demographic information as well as general information about the City. The Community Planning Division prepares the Capital Improvements Program which is a fiscal planning tool that lists public facilities and public works, prioritizes, and schedules them for funding and implementation.
