Park Blvd. Fatal Crash

On January 9th, 2012, at approximately 4:01pm, Pinellas Park Police and Fire/Rescue personnel responded to a motor vehicle crash with injuries on Park Blvd just east of Belcher Rd.  A preliminary investigation has determined that a 2012 Toyota Yaris operated by Charles Demayo, age 74, of Syracuse, NY, exited a retail parking lot on the north side of Park Blvd in an attempt to enter into the eastbound lanes. After crossing into the westbound lanes of Park Blvd, his car collided with a westbound 2002 Cadillac Escalade operated by Michael Butterick, age 34 of Pinellas Park. The collision critically injured Demayo who was transported to Bayfront Medical Center where he later died as a result of his injuries. Demayo's wife, Marlene Roberts, age 70, was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash. She and and Butterick were transported to a local hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

No charges are expected to be filed.
