Single Vehicle Traffic Crash
5900 Block or 94th Avenue North
Case #: 2011-002007
On January 23, 2011, at approximately 2145 hours Patrol officers and Fire Rescue were dispatched to a single vehicle crash just east of the intersection of 94 Avenue and 60 Street. Upon arrival they found a 2001 Chevrolet Corvette partially wrapped around an oak tree south of the intersection with the passenger still trapped inside.
The passenger was extracted from the vehicle and transported by Bayflight to Bayfront hospital in serious condition. The driver was transported by ground ambulance to Bayfront hospital in stable condition.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the Corvette was traveling eastbound on 94 Avenue at a high rate of speed, the driver lost control and the vehicle left the roadway striking the tree and coming to rest.
The investigation is still open and anyone who may have witnessed the crash or driving of the vehicle just prior to the crash is asked to contact Traffic Homicide Investigator Ron McKenzie of the Pinellas Park Police Department at 727-541-0887.
