On Thursday, April 7, 2011, just after 7:00 am, one of our officers was involved in a serious injury crash in the 8300 block of Bryan Dairy Road.

Officer Alexando Aguilar, 25, was west on Bryan Dairy Road when a 1996 Toyota Pick up truck pulled into his path.  Officer Aguilar was driving a fully marked patrol car, a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria.  The driver of the truck, Tomas Isidro Noguera, 30, of St. Petersburg, FL was a leaving business on the north side of Bryan Dairy Road.  He pulled straight across the road, apparently to make a left turn, from a driveway with no traffic signal.  Both vehicles sustained major damage.

Officer Aguilar applied his brakes and took evasive action but was not able to avoid the collision.  The front of the patrol car struck the left front area of the truck.  The collision caused the cars the spin and strike again.  The truck came to rest in the center of the road; the patrol car in the eastbound lanes.  Noguera was ejected from his truck and suffered life threatening injuries.  He was transported by helicopter to a local hospital.  Officer Aguilar suffered non-life threatening injuries, but was able to call for assistance after the crash.  He was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released later in the morning.

Officers from the traffic homicide unit are investigating the crash.
