Sexual Predator Arrested for Lewd and Lascivious Molestation

On Sunday, April 24, 2011, officers were called to a residence to investigate an incident involving a 14 year old female who was fondled by her mother’s adult boyfriend. The girl reported to her mother that the suspect, Joseph Marcel DeMint, 38, of New Port Richey, FL, had touched her inappropriately while she slept.  She awoke to the fondling in the early morning.  After the mother called the police, DeMint fled the home by foot.

Later in the day he was located in North Pinellas County by a Sheriff’s Deputy.  He was subsequently interviewed by our officers and admitted his involvement in this case.  He was charged with one count of Lewd and Lascivious Molestation and remains in the Pinellas County Jail under a bond of $50,000.

DeMint is a registered Sexual Predator in the State of Florida and was most recently released from prison in 2005.  According to the Florida Department of Corrections website, DeMint has a history of similar offenses.
