Fatal Crash
US 19 / 70 Avenue N Pinellas Park
Approx. 20:54 hrs, a Chevy Monte Carlo was Southbound on US19 from the Parking Lot of 7200 US19 at a high rate of speed, occupied by two males. The Monte Carlo struck the drivers side of a Ford Taurus within the intersection of 70 Avenue. The two occupants of the Monte Carlo fled the scene on foot. There were 5 occupants in the Ford Taurus, 2 adults, 3 children. The driver of the Taurus, a female, died at the scene. The adult passenger and one child was taken to Bayfront hospital, the other two children were taken to All Childrens Hospital. The ages of the children were 8, 9, and 12.
Prior to the crash, Pinellas Park Vice Detectives were conducting a narcotics operation in the parking lot of 7200 US 19. The two suspects in the Monte Carlo were targeted for arrest by the detectives. Detectives tried to block the Monte Carlo inside the parking lot with detectives vehicles but the Monte Carlo was able to evade the block. Detectives did not pursue the two suspects as it left the parking area. The Monte Carlo exited onto US19 and headed southbound.
Police officers have taken two suspects into custody at this time, both are believed to be the persons operating and fleeing from the Monte Carlo.
Information regarding the identity of those involved will be released at a later time.
UPDATE: 23:35 Prior to the crash, Pinellas Park Vice Detectives were conducting a narcotics operation in the parking lot of 7200 US 19. Detectives completed a buy of crack cocaine from the occupants of the Monte Carlo. Detectives tried to block the Monte Carlo and arrest the suspects inside the parking lot but the Monte Carlo was able to evade being blocked in. Detectives did not pursue the two suspects as it left the parking area. The Monte Carlo exited onto US19 and headed southbound, crashing into a Ford Taurus, killing the driver of the Taurus.
In custody at this time are: 1) RASHANE DEANGELO BARBER B/M 8-2-1986 3810 18 Ave/S St Pete FL
2) DEVONTA THORNTON MERRIEX B/M 1-17-1988 932 11 Ave/S St Pete. FL
Charges are pending. Barber does have an outstanding arrest warrant.

The driver of the Ford Taurus that died in the crash is identified as: Nachenga E. Robinson B/F, Age 32, from Florence, South Carolina.
Identities of the others injured in the crash are not being released.

The driver killed in the auto crash at US19 / 70 Ave, Nachenga Robinson, is the mother of the three children that were passengers in the car. The adult female passenger that was injured is not related to the children, but is a friend of the deceased driver's father.
All of the occupants are from Florence, South Carolina and were staying at an extended stay hotel located at 6200 US 19.
No other information as to how long they were in the area prior to this date, or why they are here in the area.
The adult female passenger remains in critical condition at Bayfront Medical. The children's conditions are less serious.
