Police responded to a domestic disturbance at 12:50 PM this date, location was the CheckSmart business 6600 US 19. A woman inside the business reported that her husband was being hostile towards her and asked an employee to call police. When police arrived, the investigation was moved to the LeMark Charles Motel at 6200 US 19 as the complainant had left CheckSmart. During this investigation it was determined that DAMON McGEE and AMY WILEY were the two involved. During the investigation the brother of AMY WILEY became very hostile toward police officers and tried to obstruct their investigation. JUSTIN BEEDLE was arrested for disorderly conduct because of his behavior and placed in a patrol car. The disturbance between Damon McGee and Amy Wiley was resolved and those two and another female named THERESA ROBERT left the scene in a white GMC Suburban. Officer P. Fiedler and another civilian police employee began the transport of Justin Beedle to the county jail in a marked police car. Ofc. Fielder traveled North on US 19 and when she got to 70th Avenue she had to stop for the traffic light. While stopped at the light, the officer observed McGee, Wiley and Robert running from the McDonalds parking lot toward the police car. Ofc. Fiedler pulled away from the intersection with the three running on foot behind her. As the officer approached the US 19 and Mainlands Blvd intersection, the officer observed McGee and the two females in the GMC Suburban coming up behind them along the edge of the roadway in an obvious attempt to catch up to the police car. McGee was the driver and he cut across traffic to get in front of the patrol car. McGee then made several reckless driving actions, trying to block or cause Ofc. Fiedler to stop her patrol car. Ofc. Fielder radio'd for assistance because of McGee's aggressive behavior. At one point as the officer was exiting US 19 onto Northbound 49 Street, McGee pulled along side of the patrol car and the female Wiley hung out the passenger side window trying to open the rear door of the patrol car where Beedle (her brother) was seated. Other officers quickly arrived to assist and attempted to traffic stop the GMC. McGee fled instead of pulling over. He jumped the median on 49th Street and headed South back onto US 19. He crossed the median again, pulling into a business "Tons of Tile" in the 9000 block of US 19. McGee crashed into a trailer in the parking lot and then fled on foot into the business. The two females were taken into custody immediately. Officers surrounded the business and captured McGee (by taser) as he tried to flee out the front door. McGee is charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Felony flee and eluding, reckless driving, obstruction, resisting arrest, two counts of DWLSR and 2 counts of false imprisonment. The two females were not charged at this time but charges may come later after the incident is further reviewed.
Police believe that Damon McGee attempted to ambush the police vehicle as it stopped at the traffic light at 70 Avenue/US19 to free Justin Beedle. When that failed he chased the patrol car in his vehicle, trying to force the patrol car to stop so another attempt could be made. Found inside the GMC Suburban was an Airsoft Pellet rifle.
