Fatal Crash

Case 2010-24275

6800 Block of 49^th Street (NB)

At approximately 12:00 hrs this date, Mark Stevens Price was driving his 1996 Dodge van northbound in the center lane of 49^th street in the 6800 block.  For reasons yet unknown, the van suddenly veered to the right crashing into a concrete light pole.  Airbags deployed.  The driver was in cardiac arrest at the scene.  He was transported to Northside hospital (only a few blocks to the south).  He was pronounced dead at the hospital.  Investigators are looking at the probability of a medical emergency occurring just prior to the crash (such as heart failure or seizure).  Mark Price was 43 years old and lived in Clearwater.
