On December 15th, 2008 at approximately 1200 hrs, Rachael Santos and Max Reano were exiting their 2001 BMW in the parking lot of the Health Department located at 6350  76 Avenue North in Pinellas Park.  Rachael was approached by a Female who demanded she hand over the keys to the car.  When Santos refused, the suspect began to slap and punch Santos in the face.  Santos fought back.  The suspect yelled to a male subject who was in another part of the parking lot, requesting his help.  The male did not comply so the female suspect abandoned the fight and fled towards the male. Santos and Reano exited the parking lot with their vehicle and called 911 to report the attempted robbery.  While Santos was reporting this crime, the male and female suspects approached Angela Crone in the same parking lot.  Crone had just left the Health Department building and walked toward and got into her 1994 Ford Explorer.  The female suspect approached the vehicle on the passenger side and demanded she roll down the window, threatening that Crone would be shot by her boyfriend if she did not give up her vehicle.  As the threat was being made, the male suspect opened the driver's door, placed a screwdriver to Crone's throat and forced her to the ground.  Both suspects got into the Explorer and fled the area, leaving Crone on the ground.  Crone suffered some bruising from the attack.

Police responded to the scene to investigate both incidents and through witness statements were able to identify two viable suspects who lived nearby.  A photopack was immediately compiled and the victims were able to identify both suspects as being KYLE TRENTON HARTMAN and CHARLOTTE RAE SCHOONDERWOERD.  Both these suspects lived at 7688 63 Street, only a block away from the attack site.  Officers had responded to a domestic disturbance between these two earlier in the morning.

A few hours later, the Ford Explorer was observed backed into the 7688 63 Street address.  Officers surrounded the duplex and talked both suspects into surrendering without incident.

Both suspects were charged with Armed Robbery / Carjacking and taken to the Pinellas County Jail.
