Shot Fired at Officers Serving Warrant

At approximately 7:00am, The Pinellas Park Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) executed a narcotics search warrant at 9241 54th Way N. While in the process of clearing the house, a resident, Patrone Jones, age 26, fired one round from a handgun in the direction of officers. No one was injured and officers did not return fire. The suspect dropped the gun and was taken into custody without further incident.

The shooting is still under active investigation. Jones is currently being interviewed at the Pinellas Park Police Department and will be transported to the Pinellas County Jail later this morning.

MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE:


Jones is facing multiple charges including ten counts of Attempted Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer, Shooting at or Within an Occupied Dwelling,Child Abuse, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance; crack cocaine.

A toddler aged child was sleeping in a bedroom adjacent to where the suspect was when he fired the weapon. A significant amount of crack cocaine, packaged for sale, was seized from the residence. The firearm used by the suspect was a 9 millimeter semi-automatic and it has been recovered.

The suspect will be transported from the Pinellas Park Police Department at approximately 1 PM.
