At approximately 9:15 PM on Monday, Chad Slettvet (age 22) was returning home in his Chevy pickup truck, along with his girlfriend and 2 year old child. Slettvet reports that as he was backing up into his driveway, he was approached by a subject dressed in dark clothing. The subject yelled at Slettvet to open his door, saying "police"! Slettvet also says the subject showed him some type of cheap badge. Slettvet says he opened the truck door and began reaching for his wallet. The subject produced a handgun and shot Slettvet in his left side just above the hip one time, and then fled to a waiting light colored SUV. The subject got into the passenger side of the getaway vehicle and it sped off North along 64th Way. Slettvet's girlfriend fled out the passenger side of the truck with the child and ran towards the house to call police. Slettvet was transported to Bayfront Hospital and treated for the gunshot wound where he was in stable (non-life threatening) condition. No one else was injured.
Detectives are continuing the investigation. No arrests have been made.
