A subject called 911 from a payphone located in central Pinellas County early this morning and stated that a person at Morgan Fitzgerald School had a bomb. This information was immediately relayed to Pinellas Park police and school administration. Morgan Fitzgerald school officials evacuated the school and moved all of the students across the street to the Pinellas Park High School Stadium while officers from the Pinellas Park Police, Pinellas Campus Police and the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office conducted a sweep of the school grounds. Officers and school officials searched the school for anything suspicious or out of place and located nothing. A detection dog was also used during the search of the school. All students were allowed to return to class at approximately 10:30 AM. School administration made phone calls to all of the student's parents letting them know what was happening at the school and allowing parents to pick up their child at the High School if they wished.
Police investigators are following up on leads that the phone call was made by a juvenile that does not attend this particular school, but possibly another school in Pinellas County. No arrests have been made at this time.
There were no injuries or incidents reported during the evacuation or re-occupation of the school.
