On February 4th, 2011, Jeanne M. Fisher, age 50, of Indian Rocks Beach was struck by a motor vehicle while she was attempting to cross the roadway in the 9700 block of 66th Street. Fisher died as a result of her injuries. The northbound vehicle fled the scene without rendering aide to Fisher.

On November 28th, 2011, Pinellas Park Traffic Homicide Investigators, acting on a tip from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, made contact with a subject with information related to the open case. The subject was able to provide investigators with information on where the suspect vehicle was located and who was operating the vehicle at the time Ms. Fisher was struck and killed. As a result of the new information, investigators were able to determine a suspect and develop probable cause to make an arrest in the case.

The suspected at fault vehicle was a 1996 Ford Ranger pickup truck that was located by investigators. Damage was still visible to the vehicle and missing vehicle parts matched evidence left at the scene. The driver was determined to be Heather Lynn Mayo, age 33 of Palm Harbor. Mayo was interviewed and subsequently arrested. She was transported and booked to the Pinellas County Jail on the charges of Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Death and Driving While License Suspended.
