On Monday, December 5, 2011, at approximately 6:57 pm, Pinellas Park Police and Fire/Rescue personnel responded to a serious injury crash in the 6600 block of US Hwy 19 N. A preliminary investigation has determined that an adult male stepped off the east curb into the northbound lanes of US 19 directly into the path of a 2004 Dodge 4-door, operated by Michelle Lovett, age 30, of Pinellas Park. Lovett was not injured but the pedestrian victim was transported to Bayfront Medical Center where he died as a result of his injuries.

The northbound lanes of US Hwy 19 were closed for several hours while investigators examined the scene for evidence. No charges are expected to be filed.

At the present time, investigators believe they know the identity of the victim but are working on confirming this information. Until the identity is confirmed, no additional information will be released regarding the victim.

***UPDATE*** 12/07/2011

At the time of our initial release, investigators had not positively identified the deceased pedestrian victim.

This afternoon, investigators were able to confirm the identity of the deceased as Robert Dale Sullivan, age 57 of St. Petersburg. Next of kin is out of state and has been notified.
