Dr. Mel J. DinsmoreDr. Mel J. Dinsmore served in the Seabees division of the Navy from 1942-1945. Dr. Dinsmore moved to Pinellas Park with his wife Gilda in 1947. His passion for community service in Pinellas Park was evident by his association wth the Chamber of Commerce, Boys Club, Girls Club, the VFW, Wyoming Antelope Club, teen dances and the Historical Society. Dr. Dinsmore was presented with a Certificate of Award from the City of Pinellas Park on June 23, 1966 for originating and organizing the city-wide "Cleanup Day" on June 11, 1966, where he personally pitched in and participated in the days activities. He served as Councilman and as Mayor from 1964-1974.
