National Night Out                                                               Country in the Park

The Community Redevelopment District is the site of numerous special events each year.  These events bring hundreds of thousands of people to the downtown area and generate interest in the District.

The CRA Police Unit co-hosts several community events including National Night OutOperation Medicine Cabinet, the Citizens Police Academy, and a “Treat Trail” at the Shoppes at Park Place, where businesses play host to safe, family-friendly Halloween celebrations.  Each month the Pinellas Park Fire Fighters host Movies in the Park at England Brothers Park.

England Brothers Park is also the location for the City’s annual Country in the Park festival and trade show, a free event held each March that includes musical performances by nationally-known and local musicians, arts and crafts, pony rides, a car show, children’s activities and much more.  On the evening preceding Country in the Park, the Firefighters host the annual Chili Blaze, a chili cook-off to benefit the Muscular Distrophy Association.  This event also offers live music, over 50 different chili teams competing for the "Chili Champion's" trophy, and a large fireworks display.  The City now also participates in hosting the annual Pinellas Country Fair at England Brothers Park, complete with its very own Rodeo.   Following a series of equipment upgrades at the adjacent Performing Arts Center, the area also routinely boasts sold-out shows in a popular new concert series.

In 2015, the City's historic downtown area, long the center of the traditional Holiday Parade,  became the location of a series of new events, including community painting and workshops at the gARTen; the 2015 Spring Fling celebrating small businesses; and the Pinellas Park Better Block, a community project to vision and temporarily build a creative district in the 5600-5700 Blocks of Park Boulevard.  The Better Block event was held October 10-11, 2015 and ushered in a new series of events and opportunities for 2016, including the city's first-ever Art Walk starting in May 2016.
