Where: 11700 Block of US Hwy 19
Charges- Pending outcome of the investigation 

Driver One: Shane Banfield, W/M, 44 years of age, of Largo, FL Vehicle One: 2014 Chevy Impala
Driver Two: Diego Alburqueque 22 years of age, of Largo, FL Vehicle Two: 2015 Kaitong motor scooter 

On 10/24/2019 at approximately 06:02 AM, a Pinellas Park Police Officer drove up on a traffic crash that had just occurred in the 11700 block of southbound US Hwy 19. The crash involved a 2014 Chevy Impala driven by Shane Banfield that had rear ended a 2015 Kaitong motor scooter driven by Diego Alburqueque. There are no traffic control devices or intersections in the area of the crash. Alburqueque was ejected off of the motor scooter and the motor scooter caught on fire. Alburqueque was transported to Bayfront Hospital as a trauma patient and is currently in stable condition. Banfield remained at the scene after the crash and is cooperating with the investigation. There were no indications of driver impairment. The investigation is still active to determine if speed or vehicle lighting contributed to the crash. The Pinellas Park Police Department are asking for anyone that witnessed the crash this morning to contact the Police Department at 727-369-7864. No further information is expected to be released.

Title: Serious Injury Crash (Vehicle vs. Motorcycle) Case #: 18-83042 

When: Thursday, October 24, 2019 @ approximately 6:02 a.m. 

Where: Southbound U.S. Hwy. 19 in the 11000 block, Pinellas Park, FL 

What: Pinellas Park Police are on scene of a serious injury crash involving a motorcycle and a single vehicle in the southbound lanes of U.S. Hwy 19 N in the 11000 block (on top of the 110th Ave overpass). An adult male motorcyclist has been transported from the scene with serious injuries and is being treated at Bayfront Hospital. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Lane closures: Currently southbound U.S. Hwy 19 is closed from 110th Avenue to 118th Avenue (Bryan Dairy Rd.) exit where traffic is being allowed to exit east and west. Traffic Homicide Investigators are on scene and the investigation continues at this time. Additional updates will be provided once more information is made available.
