What: Pinellas Park Police update to standoff with armed subject.

Today at approximately 10:30 a.m. Pinellas Park Police responded to a call of an armed subject (adult male) inside the residence located at 6665 100th Ave N. A SWAT callout was initiated after it was determined the armed subject was not responding to officers commands to vacate the residence. During the investigation it was determined that the armed subject did not live in the residence and was only a guest of a female resident of the home. Prior to the subject barricading himself inside residence the adult female home owner, her adult daughter, and a four year old child managed to escape from the residence and call 911. Throughout the day SWAT Negotiators attempted to contact and communicate with the armed subject. At one point the armed male subject communicated that if he came outside he was going to "shoot an officer". For several hours the subject refused any further communication with officers. Just before 4:30 p.m. SWAT units used and armored vehicle to push open the front door of the residence in an attempt to further contact with the armed suspect. After a few moments the armed subject exited and then reentered the residence with a handgun in his hands. The armed subject did this several times before exiting the residence for a final time still with the handgun in his hand. The armed subject at some point while outside raised his handgun and discharged it in the direction of officers, at which time a SWAT Sniper shot the subject one time. The armed subject was transported to a local hospital where he is being treated at this time for a single gunshot wound. Pinellas Park Police are investigating the original incident and have criminal charges pending on the subject from that incident. In a separate investigation detectives are investigating the officer involved shooting in conjunction with the Pinellas County State Attorney's Office and the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Forensics Unit. Names of the armed subject and the officer involved in the shooting will be released in an additional update. ____________________________________________________________________________ _______ Previously Released Information: Title: Standoff with Armed Subject Case Number: 19-59959 When: Monday, July 29, 2019 @ approximately 10:30 a.m. Where: 6665 100th Ave N.
