Police Arrest Female Driver for Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Death 

Title: Traffic Fatality - Vehicle vs. Motorcycle Case Number: 2019-37162 

When: Sunday, May 12, 2019 at approximately 4:00 a.m. 

Where: 12300 block of U.S. Hwy 19 North Pinellas Park, FL 

Arrested: Sierra Ethridge W/F 12/16/1992 of 1140 Howard Street Clearwater, FL 

What: On 5/13/2019, Pinellas Park Police Traffic Homicide Investigators received information of a third vehicle involved in the fatal crash on the morning of May 12th. Through follow-up investigation, the suspect vehicle was identified and located by investigators, matching evidence located at the crash scene. Further investigation revealed the driver at the time of the crash to be Sierra Ethridge, who struck Christopher Babcock after he was ejected from his motorcycle. Ethridge left the scene without stopping to render aid to Babcock. At no point did Ethridge notify a law enforcement agency of her involvement in the crash. Sierra Ethridge was taken into custody this evening by officers at the Pinellas Park Police Department. Ethridge has been transported to the Pinellas County Jail where she was charged with one count of leaving the scene of a crash involving a death. No further information is expected to be released. NOK has been notified Vehicle Two: Kia: 2012 Kia Optima Kia Driver: Giana Weissman- W/F- 1/10/1070- Resides at 4508 S Brady Ave Tampa, FL Vehicle Three: Mustang: 2011 Ford Mustang GT Mustang Driver: Kellen Keglar- W/M- 5/5/1999- Resides at 11049 Valencia Ave Seminole, FL On 5/12/2019, at approximately 4:00 a.m., officers responded to the 12300 block of northbound U.S. Highway 19 in reference to a crash. The crash involved a motorcycle and two vehicles who were still on scene. The adult male motorcycle rider was pronounced deceased on scene and Traffic Homicide Investigators responded to investigate the crash. During the investigation, it appears the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control causing the rider to be ejected. A passing motorist stopped and attempted to flag down traffic, however an unsuspecting Mustang traveling north struck the motorcycle rider. A second vehicle also traveled through the scene striking debris in the roadway just prior to the Mustang. All parties involved are cooperating with the investigation. A helmet was located at the scene, however it is unknown if it was worn at the time of the crash. The investigation continues. No further information is expected to be released.
