Multiple Inappropriate Messages 12-12-2019

Pinellas Park Police Detectives arrest a subject who sent multiple inappropriate messages to a 13 year old female victim.

Case Number: 19-94206

When: Wednesday, December 11, 2019 @ approximately 1:30 p.m.

Where: 5600 block of 65th Avenue Pinellas Park, FL (actual location being withheld per FSS 119 in order to protect the identity of the victim.

Arrested: Kyle Hughe Kemp - DOB 06/04/84 of Pinellas Park. (address being withheld per FSS 119 in order to protect the identity of the victim.

Charge: one count of transmission of harmful material to a minor FSS 847.0138(2) (3rd degree felony).

Victim: 13 year old female (personal information not being released per FSS 119 to protect her identity).

What: On Wednesday December 12, 2019 at approximately 1:30 p.m. Pinellas Park Police responded to a local middle school to conduct an investigation into several inappropriate text messages that were discovered on a student's cell phone. A teacher at the middle school became aware of the sexually explicit messages when the student refused to put away her cell phone in class. The teacher took the phone from the 13 year old female student at which time the messages were seen. The teacher having seen the messages reported the information to the schools administration who then contacted police.

Detectives took over the investigation from the responding officer and conducted further investigation into the matter. As a result of the investigation Kyle Kemp who is 35 years old was interviewed and arrested for transmitting several sexually explicit messages to the 13 year old student. Kemp has no connection to the school and investigators are not releasing Kemp's connection to the 13 year old student as it may result in her identification per FSS 119. Kemp had personal knowledge of the 13 year old victim and no other students were affected by his actions.

Detectives will be working with the Pinellas County State Attorney's Office to obtain a search warrant for Kemp's cell phone to further the investigation. The investigation continues and additional charges may be added based on any additional evidence they may come Kemp's phone.
