TITLE: Serious Crash Investigation

WHEN: July 3rd, 2020 at 1515

WHERE: 49th St N / 94th Ave N

WHO:
Vehicle 1- 2000 Toyota Corolla driven by Leonard Matthews 56 YOA- Pinellas Park
Vehicle 2- 2003 Honda Accord driven by Cody Stotler 24 YOA- Largo
Vehicle 3- 2016 Maserati Ghibli driven by Ayaiza Roque 24 YOA- Pinellas Park

WHAT:  On July 3rd, at approximately 1515 hours, officers responded to a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of 94th Ave and 49th St.  As a result of the collision, one of the drivers was transported to a local area hospital, listed in critical condition.

Through investigation, it was learned Leonard Matthews was traveling north on 49th St and made a left turn attempting to go west on 94th Ave.  While making this turn, Matthews drove into the path of a Honda Accord driven by Cody Stotler, causing a collision.  As a result of the crash, the Honda Accord was redirected and struck a Maserati stopped on 94th Ave at the red light.

As a result of the collision, Leonard Matthews was transported to a local hospital where he is currently receiving medical attention and is listed in critical condition.  No injuries were sustained to either of the other drivers.

At this time, there are no criminal charges involved in this case, and the investigation is still active.

WHAT: Officers are on the scene of a crash involving three vehicles with serious injuries. This incident is currently under investigation, and the roadway will remain closed for several hours.

More information will be released once it has been obtained.

TRAFFIC ALERT- Southbound 49th St is limited to one lane. All of 94th Ave at 49th St is closed.
