Fatal Car Crash

TITLE: Fatal Crash Investigation

WHEN: October 17, 2020

WHERE: 10100 Blk MCI Drive

This is an update to the initial media release regarding the fatal crash investigation from Saturday, October 17th, 2020.  The identities of the deceased occupants are as follows:

Driver - Eric Deshaies 56 YOA from Clearwater
Passenger - Brian Tomasek 42 YOA from Ruskin

As previously stated, this was a single-vehicle crash involving a 1979 Chevrolet Corvette.  The vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, leaving the roadway and striking a tree.
Investigators believe speed was a factor involved in the crash.

TITLE: Fatal Traffic Crash Investigation

WHEN: Saturday, October 17, 2020

WHERE: 10100 Blk MCI Drive

On 10/17/2020, at approximately 2127 hours, officers were dispatched to a crash in the 10100 Blk of MCI Drive.  Upon arrival, a single-vehicle crash was located where the two subjects involved were pronounced deceased on the scene.

Through investigation, it was learned the single-vehicle failed to negotiate a turn on MCI Drive and left the roadway striking a tree.  Both occupants of the vehicle, a Corvette, were pronounced deceased on the scene.

The occupants' identities will be withheld at this time to complete proper notification to next of kin.  It is unknown at this time if impairment was a factor in this crash.

This investigation is still active and if any other information is learned it will be released when available.
