Pinellas Park Police Department reaccreditation

TITLE: Pinellas Park Police Department receives re-accreditation through the Commission of Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation

WHEN: February 18th, 2021

WHAT: Chief Michael Haworth is proud to announce that the Pinellas Park Police Department has earned re-accreditation through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation. Chief Michael Haworth appeared before the panel of commissioners during a virtual review hearing that took place on February 18, 2021. The panel commission review was the final phase of the re-accreditation process that has continued since the initial accreditation in February of 2018.

Accreditation is a progressive cyclical process of select law enforcement agencies to improve their overall performance. The accreditation practices are formulated through standards determined by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation which contain clear statements of professional law enforcement objectives. Agencies who participate in the accreditation process perform a self-assessment to determine how policies and procedures can be improved to meet these objectives. Assessors interview agency members, review written materials and observe offices and other locations where compliance with the standards can be observed.

To maintain accreditation under the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, the department must be reviewed every three years for re-accreditation. This includes a full assessment to ensure the agency is adhering to the required standards. Achieving accreditation demonstrates the Pinellas Park Police Department's commitment to the agency's core values: Integrity, Service, Professionalism, and Dedication. The Pinellas Park Police Department is proud to be amongst the accredited law enforcement agencies in the State of Florida.

Chief Michael Haworth said, "Our commitment to re-accreditation through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation has strengthened the implementation and observation of the industry's best practices. Being an accredited law enforcement agency ensures that we continue to evolve in our investment and influence within our community. "
