TITLE: Officers Investigating Serious Crash - Roadway Closure WHEN: Monday, August 23rd, 2021, at approximately 6:45 AM WHERE: Bryan Dairy Rd - West of US Highway 19 N WHO: Vehicle Driver - Enrique Hernandez, 45 YOA, Tampa Bicyclist - Kandice Hamel, 36 YOA, Bradenton WHAT: Officers investigated a vehicle verse an E-bike crash on Bryan Dairy Rd at approximately 6:45 AM on Monday, August 23rd, 2021. The crash was initially reported to involve a child, but it was learned both parties involved were adults. Investigators learned a white Dodge Durango was traveling west on Bryan Dairy Rd, west of US Highway 19 N when a bicyclist crossed the center median and into the vehicle's path. When the two collided, the bicyclist was thrown from the E-bike causing severe injuries. The driver of the Dodge Durango remained on-scene and cooperated with investigators. The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Speed or impairment is not a factor in this crash. All lanes of Bryan Dairy Rd have reopened to traffic.
