TITLE: Hostage Suspect Releases Hostages, Shoots Himself

WHAT: At Approximately 1010 hours, Pinellas Park Officers responded to a 911 hang up at 4500 block of 76th Avenue. When officers arrived on scene and approached the door, one shot was fired from the inside of the residence striking a vehicle just outside the front door of the apartment. Officers quickly worked to evacuate the surrounding apartments, while attempting to communicate with the male subject. Officers determined there were a total of three hostages in the apartment (two juvenile females and one adult (female). Shortly after noon, the two juvenile hostages were released uninjured. Officers continued to negotiate with the male subject, and the remaining hostage was released around 319 pm uninjured. Negotiations continued with the suspect until approximately 405 pm when officers attempted to make entry into the apartment. At that time multiple shots were heard by officers within the residence. Officers made entry into the apartment and found the suspect deceased of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The male subject will remain unidentified until the next of kin has been notified.
This is still an active investigation. There is no other information expected to be released tonight.

TITLE: Pinellas Park Police working a shooting investigation
WHEN: Wednesday, March 2, 2022
WHERE: 4650 76th Avenue
WHAT: Pinellas Park Police Department is currently working a shooting investigation which has resulted in a SWAT call out in the area of 45 Street/76 Avenue. At approximately 1010 hours, the police department responded to the area in reference to a 911 hang up. Officers in the area heard shots being fired and loud screaming.
