TITLE: Pinellas Park Police Arrest Homicide Suspect on Charges of First Degree Murder

WHEN: Homicide - July 13, 2022

WHERE: Abandoned Home Located At: (Corrected Address) 6035 Park Blvd, Pinellas Park FL

ARRESTED: Miguel Alejandro Haisten, 31 year old male from St. Petersburg, FL (Homeless)

CHARGE: First Degree Murder

DECEASED/VICTIM: Joseph Alan Maiden 65 year old male from Pinellas Park, FL (Homeless)

WHAT: Pinellas Park Police Detectives arrest homicide suspect. On Friday, July 15th at approximately 9:00 AM detectives from the Pinellas Park Police Department conducting further follow up in the homicidal death of Mr. Maiden located and arrested Miguel Alejandro Haisten and arrested him for the murder of Mr. Maiden. During the investigation detectives were able to determine that the victim Joseph Maiden (homeless) had been squatting inside of an abandoned home for an extended period of time. Detectives believe that Maiden and Haisten who is also homeless, had been involved in an ongoing dispute over the occupation of the abandoned home. Through investigative means detectives were able to obtain information that placed the victim alive inside the abandoned home prior to the arrival of Haisten on Wednesday morning.

During the investigation detectives obtained evidence that shows Haisten arrive at the abandoned home around 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 13th at which time he forced entry into the home with what is believed to be a large plaster cast yard statue. Detectives believe that upon forcing entry into the home Haisten attacked Maiden with the same plaster statue and other objects causing severe upper body trauma to the victim Maiden, causing his death. Following the homicide Haisten fled the scene and the immediate area. Detectives learned of a possible court appearance on an unrelated misdemeanor charge that Haisten had on today's date. When Haisten arrived at the Pinellas County Justice Center detectives took him into custody without incident. Haisten was booked into the Pinellas County Jail where he is being held without bond on his first degree murder charge. Haisten declined to provide any statement about the homicide. Title: Suspicious Death Investigation Is Updated to a Homicide Investigation

When July 13, 2022, at 12:15 PM

Where: Abandoned Home Located At: 6030 Park Blvd, Pinellas Park, FL

Deceased/Victim: Joseph Alan Maiden 65 year old male from Pinellas Park, FL

WHAT: Pinellas Park Police officers were called to the above address on Wednesday afternoon after receiving a call about a deceased subject being located inside of an abandoned residence. Upon arrival officers located a deceased subject inside the residence, after it was determined that a friend of the deceased had stopped by to see him and discovered his friend deceased. Detectives responded to the scene and began conducting a death investigation. During the course of the investigation detectives have determined the deceased subject was Joseph Alan Maiden a homeless subject who had been staying inside the residence over an extended period of time. Detectives also have determined that Mr. Maiden was the victim of a homicidal act and died as a result of blunt force trauma to the upper body. While the investigation is ongoing detectives believe Mr. Maiden's death was not a random act.

As this is an active homicide investigation no further information will be released at this time.

WHAT: The Pinellas Park Police Department is investigating a suspicious death in the 6000 Blk of Park Blvd.  At approximately 12:20 PM, officers responded to an abandoned residence and located a deceased male inside.
