The Pinellas Park Police Department has an authorized strength of 106 full time police officers. The Recruiting Unit is responsible for the recruitment and background investigation of all candidates who request consideration for employment as police officers.

In addition to our own in house investigators, the agency also utilizes the services of Police Applicant Screening Services (PASS) to conduct preliminary background investigations on all potential police candidates. The completion of the PASS process is necessary to be considered for employment as a police officer with the Pinellas Park Police Department. Qualifications

  • Be at least 19 years of age
  • Be a citizen of the United States
  • Be a high school graduate or its equivalent
  • Be in good physical condition as determined by a physician's examination and successfully pass analysis for controlled substances
  • Be of good moral character.
  • Have completed at least 30 hours at an accredited college, be in good standing (not on probation) during your last attendance, and have an overall GPA of at least 2.0 (on a 4 point scale)
  • Never have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States
  • Not have been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement
  • Possess a valid driver's license

Selection Process

As a candidate for the position of a police officer, you will be expected to successfully complete and or pass the following:

  • Background Investigation
  • Completion of the Pass Process
  • Meet Agency Approved Drug and Tobacco Policy
  • Oral Board Interview
  • Oral Interview
  • Patrol Ride-Along Evaluation
  • Physical Examination
  • Polygraph Examination
  • Psychological Examination

Salary

  • Starting Salary $59,579.52
  • $30 Per Month Additional for a 2-Year College Degree
  • $80 Per Month Additional for a 4-Year College Degree
  • Advanced Training Incentive Pay
  • Overtime Pay
  • Secondary Employment Details (Available to Supplement Officers' Salaries)
  • Court Standby Pay
