Barbara S. Ponce Public Library 2020 Flash Fiction Contest

Librarians at Barbara S. Ponce Public Library encourage Pinellas County residents to exercise their creative muscles by writing flash fiction: a type of very short story. Submissions must be 1,000 words or less and relate to a theme that will be revealed on August 30, 2020. Submission period is August 31 - September 7, 2020. Winners will be announced on September 25, 2020. 

There is no fee to enter. The contest is open to Pinellas County residents in three age brackets: Child (age 7 - 12), Teen (age 13 - 17), and Adult (age 18 and older).

The library will award a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize in each age bracket. Prizes are a $75, $50, and $25 gift certificate to Tombolo Books, an independent bookstore in St. Petersburg. Winners and a runner up will also see their stories printed in a zine that will be distributed for a limited time at the library.
