3/7 Update: Covid-19 Vaccines

Covid-19 Vaccines

Important Note: The State of Florida is distributing vaccine supplies to hospitals, health centers, pharmacies, health department offices, Publix stores, and other agencies. Pinellas County government does not determine local vaccine distribution channels.

See below for vaccine update information from DOH-Pinellas.  Be sure to check the Pinellas County Covid-19 webpage at for the latest information. 

The following groups can schedule through the patient portal at :

    • 65+ residents
    • Health care workers who have direct contact with the public. Examples are physicians, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, phlebotomists, nurses, home health providers, home medical equipment providers, therapists, dental office staff, pharmacists, and administrative/reception staff, among other health care professionals.
    • K-12 school employees age 50 and older. (not just teachers)
    • Does not apply to universities
    • Firefighters age 50 and older.
    • Sworn law enforcement officers age 50 and older.

o   First and second dose appointments can be scheduled directly on the portal - there will be no more invitations. 

o   Individuals in these groups may sign up for appointments at or by phone at 844-770-8548.

o   Patient Portal is no longer sending invites. Those eligible are encouraged to check the portal regularly for new appointment availability.

o   Proof of eligibility is required and will be strictly enforced at the vaccination sites. The following documents will be accepted:

  • Organizational identification card
  • Medical license
  • Paystub showing employment
  • W-2 IRS form showing the employer
  • An employment verification letter on official letterhead


The following groups can schedule appointments at pharmacies or go w/out appointments to the Tampa federal vax site (at the Tampa Greyhound Track). At this time, county sites are not vaccinating these groups.

    • Medically vulnerable can schedule at pharmacies or go to new federal site with doctor's certification.  Here’s the form
    • All age teachers including daycare workers (per president order)


Other Vaccine Updates:

  • CVS is now scheduling appointments in Pinellas County.
  • Next: anticipate 65+ dropping to 55+ in the coming weeks per governor’s statement
  • To date, more than 163,000 people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Pinellas County. In Pinellas, more than 50 percent of the senior population has received a vaccine.
